Curaçao sets an example
by Ybel Hulshof
According to Ruby Douglas students from
Bermuda could learn a lot from the students of the Maris Stella College for
Tourism at Curaçao. Mrs. Douglas, who lives in Bermuda, is one of the
participants of the CACBF championships. Maris Stella
College is ‘volunteering’ students in order to let them obtain experience in
getting along with foreigners and to have them practice their English skills;
and, most important, to show their most friendly hospitality.
Ruby Douglas is so enthusiastic that
introducing a student exchange program could be highly awarding. Contacts are
considered to be made with Dr. Ewart Brown, the premier of Bermuda, who is much
involved with tourism. Mrs. Douglas added the fact that funds might be available
for such a project, since schools get a donation of 1,500 dollar per week for
student supplies. The bridge championships might have a interesting follow up.
As far as I know contacts have
already been made between Bermuda & Curaçao (Red.)
